Patriotism and nationalism are not the same thing. Patriotism is, roughly, a sense of what your country is about and a love of it. Nationalism is a strong and exclusionary sense of who does, and, more importantly, doesn’t belong there.
This raises the question, though, is it still nationalism if the answers are, respectively, “everybody” and “nobody”?
