Et in Arcadia, Aggro

The whole cellos in metal thing is bordering on played-out at this point, which makes it all the more impressive for Grayceon to seem as cutting-edge as they do.  Maybe it’s the sheer skill all three of the musicians in the band, or even the lack of bassist and generally distinct (a lo-fi kind of heavy) production, or that make them stand out so clearly from the rest of the chamber-inspired acts out there.  It could just be that they have one of the best harmonic and melodic sensibilities of any metal band working at any time ever.  But stand out they do, and their new album All We Destroy will be a heavy contender for best metal album this year.
